Last night, the 66th edition of Filmfare Awards 2021 took place and various Bollywood artists were celebrated for their extraordinary work. While most films and celebrities were able to get one or two awards, Taapsee Pannu’s film Thappad won seven awards.
Yes, the film won the most awards at the Filmfare Awards 2021. The film won the following awards – Best Actor In A Lead Role (Female), Best Playback Singer (Male) – Raghav Chaitanya ‘Ek Tukda Dhoop’ Best Story -Anubhav Sushila Sinha and Mrunmayee Lagoo Waikul , Best Sound Design -Kaamod Kharade, Best Editing – Yasha Pushpa Ramchandani and Best Background Score – Mangesh Urmila Dhakde.
Taapsee took to social media to express her gratitude for the same. She wrote, “Respect and Happiness. Thank you Amrita#Humbled #Thappad #FilmfareAwards”

Actor Irrfan Khan also won a posthumous award for Best Actor for his film Angrezi Medium. The late actor was also honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the event. Irrfan Khan’s son Babil received the trophies on his father’s behalf at the Filmfare awards. Here’s how people reacted to his win:

The film Thappad was released in the year 2020 and highlighted the issue of domestic violence. The film was directed by Anubhav Sinha and Taapsee Pannu and Pavail Gulati played the lead roles in the film. The film also starred Diya Mirza, Maya Sarao, Kumud Mishra, and many more in integral roles.

The film revolves around the story of a young woman, Amrita who is content with her life and her husband Vikram. But, everything falls apart when her husband slaps her at an office party without any reason in front of everyone and later she goes on to file a divorce.
The film was able to make over Rs 44.54 crores despite being released at the time of the Coronavirus pandemic. The whole Bollywood industry struggled and went through a tough time after the lockdown was announced. Many films were released online including Gulabo Sitabo, Gunjan Saxena, Dil Bechahra, among others.
