If there’s one thing that gets foodie families of Perth excited, it’s the opening of a shiny new brewery. At Bailey Brewing Co there’s something for everyone, beers and pub grub for the adults, plus a playground to keep the kids entertained – happy days!

Bailey Brewing Co is found opposite a favourite Swan Valley watering hole of mine – The Hen. While the Hen has oodles of rustic charm, and a basic nature play area, Bailey Brewing Co has all the bells and whistles. The relaxing, well-manicured beer garden is so inviting, making it easy to spend a few hours here. Choose from seating inside the brewery, out on the veranda, or out by the playground. If you’d prefer to sit away from children playing, there’s a lovely beer garden on the northern side, out by the bell tower.

I found the menu a little uninspiring, but it has all the pub food favourites, including pizzas, burgers, fish and chips. With such a massive venue, I get that the kitchen will want to nail the casual dining staples when it first opens. Bailey Brewing Co. offers full table service. Once we placed our order, we paid before our meals arrived, which I suspect is to do with people dining and dashing.

I chose a fried buttermilk chicken burger, a real novelty for me, being a glu-tard. The GF burger bun (on brioche for normal peeps) was filled with a tender-on-the-inside, crisp-on-the-outside chicken, peppery rocket and chipotle dressing. I found the dish as a whole a bit dry (not the chicken). I requested a little aioli, for the chips, which sorted my problem out.

Other dishes enjoyed on the table were fish and chips ($23). They were perfectly cooked, tasty and the side salad was well dressed.

A light snack of wedges and fish bites, are easy dishes to share with a beer.

We didn’t have room, but there are plenty of dessert or coffee and cake options in the cabinet, in the inside dining area.

The Bailey Brewing Co is a kids paradise. Your whipper snappers will love to play on the beautiful playground, cleverly designed using vintage Bedford trucks.

Children can even jump inside to “drive” the trucks, as well as enjoy a flying fox, slide, swings and much more.

There is a large grassed area, complete with footy goals for kids to run about on. And mini picnic tables for little ones to devour their mini meals too!
